5 XL CRANES at a Data Center

For the construction of a data center in Raunheim near Frankfurt, klarx managed the complete tower crane package – over a project duration of 14 months. The scope of services ranged from 3D crane planning to lifting documentation and temporary power supply, through to EHS coordination as well as all logistics and assembly.

A WOLFF 6031.8 Clear, a Liebherr 630 EC-H20, and a Wotan X-treme 8040.20/2 were deployed. Weather protocols, defined restricted zones, and continuous on-site supervision were part of the integrated lifting concept.

Kurfürstendamm Berlin

Kurfürstendamm Berlin

One of Berlin's most complex renovation projects in recent history required an innovative and unique crane concept. The complexity and one-of-a-kind design of this project demanded careful planning and coordination.

The key advantage of this approach was having a single point of contact for all project stakeholders from the start. This promoted clear communication throughout the entire process. While many offers were considered, klarx delivered the most convincing overall concept.

Working closely with BBL Baumaschinen, the selected strategy was successfully implemented from theory to practice. By combining technical innovation with strategic planning, a tailored solution was created that met both the specific project requirements and industry standards. The result was an efficient and effective execution that not only led to project success, but also serves as an example of excellent project management and technical expertise in the industry.

Rail-mounted crane in Denmark

The trend in logistics towards fully automated high-bay warehouses continues to grow. Our customers take us across Europe, and we ensure the right cranes are in the right place at the right time. For this application, there's simply no better solution than a rail-mounted crane.

Pre-assembled blocks weighing up to 15t need to be positioned correctly hundreds of times. A mobile crane is an option, but an expensive one. A mobile crane would need to be repositioned at least 40 times if everything goes to plan (meaning no late deliveries, no material shortages—basically a fantasy). That costs time.

But if you want to assemble the steel first and then install the roof later, you'd need to swap the mobile crane for a larger one. Another time loss that could be avoided.

By now, the rail-mounted crane is our specialty. An almost-forgotten technology that we revive as often as it makes sense. Whether the crane needs a capacity of 150mt or 630mt doesn't matter. We always have solutions available.

Liebherr 81K.1 in the tightest spaces

In confined spaces, the real skills of installation crews and crane rental specialists shine through. A 3.5m-wide access as a dead end – that's a challenge. From a technical standpoint, solving this without major effort requires the right technology. We know who has a Liebherr 81K.1 and the right loader crane for the job.

What's more, the crane had to be pushed 30m forward using the loader crane's boom to reach the right position, and five tower sections had to be assembled. By the way: The hook height was determined using a drone because the tree canopy couldn't be measured using conventional methods due to the site conditions.

Many complex projects come to us because many providers prefer easier jobs or don't know how to solve the problem without significant extra costs.

The Liebherr 550 EC-H20 at the Waste Incineration Plant

Normally it works like this: A powerful crane needs a powerful mobile crane. A tall crane needs a tall mobile crane. But what mobile crane do you need when you have both a powerful and tall crane, but must assemble it in the tightest of spaces and the maximum weight can only be 84t? Clearly the Tadano AC 7.450-1 with Y-bracing.

This powerhouse was able to lift the slewing ring weighing 17,000 kg to a height of 75 m. The attachment point for the tower tip was even at 91 m. There was no room for setting up a rocker beam, as only the inner courtyard was available, which effectively wasn't even 40 m long.

In this configuration, the assembly concept was unique, which ultimately won us the order and the client's trust. Knowing which crane partner has which technologies and what they're capable of is the fundamental requirement. In this case, it was Weiss Kranservice from southern Germany that made the impossible possible.

— Oliver Wargalla, Head of Tower Slewing Cranes.

By the way: At that time, 21 units were delivered worldwide, but only three Tadano AC 7.450-1 were delivered in Germany.

Liebherr 81K.1 Tower Crane

Setting up the Liebherr 81K.1 tower crane presented our team with special challenges that required careful planning and coordination. The neighboring property, which couldn't be accessed or driven on, along with several street lamps in the immediate area, posed significant obstacles.

Through forward-thinking, timely planning and direct communication with the excavation contractor, we developed an effective solution. Despite the small distance to the construction pit, we created a safe crane position using concrete rings and ensured the necessary stability. Close collaboration with all the specialists involved and detailed project coordination resulted in a successful crane setup that met both technical requirements and timelines.

Frankfurt - Cable Bridge

The Liebherr 81K.1 with a 7.4m cable bridge

In our customer's interest, we took over complete organization for the setup of the Liebherr 81K.1 tower crane and developed a schedule that was both timely and efficient. Using our extensive network, we were able to provide both short-notice road closures and cable bridges to ensure smooth operations.

The entire process was meticulously planned and strictly coordinated to avoid any inconveniences or delays. The first step was to position the crane precisely and properly at the designated location. Just 30 minutes later, the cable bridge was installed. This timely sequence was essential due to the special space constraints on site, and reversing this order would have been impossible.

Precise planning and coordination of all these aspects ensures that the setup runs smoothly, safely, and on schedule. In summary, meticulous planning, involvement of experts from various fields, and use of specialized equipment were key to successfully setting up the tower crane. This approach reflects our commitment to meeting the highest quality standards and fulfilling our customer's needs.

Frankfurt - Steep Slope

Construction project on steep slope

On the construction project with the underjib crane BBL TK 4814 FU in Frankfurt, we encountered several specific challenges that required precise planning and execution. In particular, adjacent trees in the immediate vicinity posed a potential hazard for job site work.

To avoid any contact or collision with the surrounding trees, we carefully and strategically positioned the crane placement area. We deployed cutting-edge technology: through detailed drone footage, we were able to precisely determine the steep slope and its gradient. These precise data enabled the landscapers to carry out their work optimally with the help of our crane.

Another special challenge was that the hook block had to reach the ground at the outermost, lowest point. This required precise coordination with the teams involved to ensure that all technical requirements were met.
